farm cafe + shop, Marlesford
Branding and website

Caravan has recently worked with the Farm Cafe + Shop at Marlesford in Suffolk to update its branding. It is one of the country's original farm cafes – committed to handmade, local and free range food since 2001 – and is an unpretentious and welcoming establishment that has earned a firm following and much media applaud over the years (food writer Jay Rayner succinctly describes it as a 'roadside caff that takes its food seriously').

In assessing the farm cafe's existing brand, we found the owners' commitment to quality, local sourcing and animal welfare had for so long been ingrained into the business' values that they'd almost stopped talking about it. Our response has been to bring this back to the fore of the brand with a new tagline and key messages. Paired with a simplified name (from 'farmcafé and foodmarket' to 'farm cafe + shop'), a bold and friendly typeface and a palette of pictograms, the new branding enables the farm cafe to more audibly tell its story – with a tone of voice that remains characteristically straightforward and approachable.

We introduced the new branding with the launch of their new website. Built on a bespoke Wordpress template, the website is fully-responsive, designed for viewing on desktop, tablet and mobile screens. Over the coming months we are looking forward to rolling out their new signage, packaging, menus and other marketing materials.
