SNIP
Art event identity and communications
University Campus Suffolk (UCS)

SNIP is a new fringe art event launched to run alongside SNAP – an annual exhibition by international artists at the Aldeburgh Festival.

This inaugural event, an exhibition of new work by Fine Art students and academic staff from University Campus Suffolk, had an audacious, slightly anarchic energy – which was encapsulated in the artists' accompanying manifesto, an unreserved declaration of importance!

Embracing this sense of bravado in creating the SNIP event identity, we borrowed the logotype from their big brother SNAP and refashioned it – slicing off the stem and cross bar of the A and giving it some extra volume with an acid yellow and black colour palette.

SNIP was keen to maximise the reach of the show, so it was it was decided to eschew the exclusivity of a limited edition catalogue and instead produce a set of art posters, along with button badges and t-shirts bearing words from the SNIP manifesto. All given away, these materials helped to announce the event as important and open to all, and served to enhance the public's engagement with the exhibition. They also proved effective marketing tools; exhibition visitors bearing the bright yellow poster tubes and bold slogan emblazoned badges and t-shirts were highly visible throughout the Aldeburgh Festival.

Project scope: Event identity / Invite / Limited edition art posters  / T-shirts / Button badges / Signage
